Volumes Bookcafe

Founded in 2016 by former educators (and sisters) Kimberly and Rebecca George, Volumes Bookcafe has quickly become the West Side’s busiest literary venue. “We love the vibrant, diverse community we are a part of here in Chicago’s Wicker Park,” say the Georges, “and the beauty of being an independent bookstore is our ability to serve as a neighborhood meeting hub.”

The store can hold up to 85 people during events thanks to a large footprint and flexible shelving, and typically hosts more than 300 events per year, including “monthly book clubs, open mics and comedy nights, weekly trivia, and StoryTime twice a week, along with a number of author and literary events.” And every December, Volumes hosts the Chicago Review of Books Awards Ceremony. Their well-stocked cafe serves Metropolis coffee and Dollop Pastries, plus wine and beer.
